How to install cyanogenmod on Nexus 5 with working HDR+
Since I bought my Nexus 5 I was very satisfied with my stock-android but sometimes I hated it to let all the app’s get control over whatever they want (not need!). And do some tweaks by the way…
So I thought maybe root, flash…put a custom rom.
First of all… I like the cam of the N5. In my very personal opinion the HDR+ is great (slow.. but great) and the photo-sphere is (when you do it proper) so great to share point of views. (–> especially with cardboard:)
Problems with the cam would be a deal-breaker besides a stable system of course.
Ingredients
After some research and try outs I finished my journey at cyanogenmod (cm-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-hammerhead) with PA Gapps micro (pa_gapps-modular-micro-4.4.2-20140608-signed) because of the camera issues (No HDR, bucking screen/video capture).
To unlock the bootloader, root/flash and install the rom/GApps I used the Nexus root toolkit. (works great but crashes sometimes v. 2.0.4 –> in this case just quit and reopen the program)
Guidance
The Nexus root toolkit is very powerfull and simple. If you need a step by step guidance this will help you!
To install new rom etc… just click in the main-window on Launch and then choose the Flash zip …
Use the configuration suggestions and everything should work great.
After that, log-in in Playstore and install google camera. HDR+ = available!
The idea of this site is to have a short summary of installing cyanogenmod on a Nexus 5 with Lollipop (Android 5.01) installed and to have a solution for the camera issues. Because I spent a lot of time to figure out how to do it in a proper way.
Please be aware that it works for me and I had no problems with my data… but I backed up all I needed with Android file transfer. Do all of this on your own risk!
Hasta luego!
